Itzel’s Moon Room: The House Floor at 15 Berkeley Street

The Moon Room is the second of Itzel’s three spaces and the one that changes what the venue can do for a group. It is house-led, visually distinct from the Main Room, and it exists as a room in its own right rather than as an annexe. Here is why that matters more than it sounds.

The Problem It Solves

The most common booking conversation in Mayfair goes like this: half the group wants hip hop, half wants house, and someone has to lose. Usually it is settled by whoever is organising, and whoever lost spends the night slightly out of step with the room.

A genuine second floor removes that. At Itzel the Main Room runs hip hop and eclectic while the Moon Room runs house, and people move. Nobody has to win the argument, which in my experience is worth more to a group’s night than any individual booking detail.

What It Looks Like

A backlit moon installation on dark walls, blue arches, and lighting that sits considerably cooler than the warm reds of the Main Room. The contrast is deliberate and you feel it when you cross between the two — it does not read as the same club with different music playing.

It photographs well without feeling designed for photographs, which is a harder balance than most venues manage.

The Sound

House-led, and a slower build than the Main Room. It fills later and peaks later, which is useful to know when you are planning the shape of a night. Arriving at 11pm and heading straight for the Moon Room will find it quiet; that is not a fault, it is the tempo.

The pattern that works is starting in the Main Room and moving across as the night develops, rather than committing to one space at the door.

Booking a Table in It

Tables are available in the Moon Room as well as the Main Room, and which you choose is a real decision rather than a formality. Minimum spends start from £600 across the venue, with position affecting where you land above that.

A Moon Room table generally suits groups whose centre of gravity is house, or who want somewhere slightly calmer to base themselves while people come and go from the Main Room. A Main Room table suits groups who want to be in the busiest part of the venue for most of the night. Tell us which sounds more like your group and we will book accordingly.

Three Rooms, One Night

It is worth saying that the Moon Room is one of three, not one of two. The Taqueria — Casa de Itzel — serves Mexican food late, which gives a group somewhere to reset partway through.

A long night with a break in the middle ends better than one without. Across a 11pm to 3:30am run that is not a small detail, particularly for birthdays and larger groups.

Practicalities

Everything else is venue-wide rather than room-specific. Thursday to Saturday, 11pm until 3:30am. Dress code is "elegance with edge" — no sportswear, hoodies, shorts or activewear. Entry is strictly 18+ with physical photographic ID required.

The guestlist takes mixed groups, with a door charge that varies by night and arrival time. None of that changes depending on which room you are heading for.

Who It Suits

Groups that cannot agree on a sound, people who like house but do not want a warehouse, and anyone who has found Mayfair’s single-room clubs limiting. The Moon Room is also a good answer for a group where a few people want somewhere to actually talk for twenty minutes without leaving the venue.

Who it suits less: anyone whose whole night is one specific headline DJ in the Main Room. If that is the brief, book the Main Room and treat the Moon Room as a bonus rather than a plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

What music does the Moon Room play?

House-led, in contrast to the hip hop and eclectic programming in the Main Room.

Can you book a table in the Moon Room?

Yes. Minimum spends start from £600 across the venue, with the exact figure depending on the night, group size and position.

Can you move between the rooms?

Yes — that is the point of the format. A table gives your group a base and people move freely.
