The Cuckoo Club Has Closed — 99 Regent Street Has Opened in Its Place

Last updated: 6 October 2026
The Cuckoo Club has closed. The floor is not empty — 99 Regent Street has opened in the same building and is trading now. If you came here trying to book Cuckoo, this is what you need to know.
The Short Version
Same building, same floor, new club, same founders. 99 Regent Street runs Wednesday to Saturday, 11pm until 4am, across two floors of around 200 each. Hip hop and open format upstairs, house downstairs. Tables from £600. Guestlist takes mixed groups. Entry is 19+.
Why the Name
It is not a coincidence or a rebrand gimmick. Cuckoo’s address was always 99–101 Regent Street — Ground Floor, Victory House. The entrance people used was on Swallow Street round the back, which is why most listings, ours included, filed it under Swallow Street for years.
So the new club is named after the address it already had. If you knew the venue by its Swallow Street door, you are in the right place.
What Is Actually Different
Cuckoo was a garden bar plus a basement dancefloor, programmed eclectically. 99 is two floors with two distinct sounds and an explicitly upscale positioning. The operators have been candid about why: London nightlife moved towards members’ clubs, listening bars and destination restaurants, and they built 99 as an answer to that rather than a continuation of what came before.
The door is stricter in one specific way that will catch people. Entry is 19+, not 18+. That is a real change and it is not negotiable at the door.
What Is the Same
The address, the building and the walk from Piccadilly Circus. Wednesday to Saturday, the same week Cuckoo ran. And the people — the founders behind the previous chapter went their separate ways when it ended and have reunited for this.
Minimum spends starting at £600 will be familiar territory for anyone who used to book Cuckoo tables.
An Address That Keeps Going
This floor has been a club since 1954, when it was Al Burnett’s Stork Club — Harold Macmillan, John Profumo, Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor and Ava Gardner all passed through. Cuckoo was the chapter after that. 99 is the one after Cuckoo.
Venues turning over in this postcode is normal rather than alarming. Tabu on Dover Street became Rumour. Funky Buddha on Berkeley Street became Itzel. The rooms outlast the names on them, and the practical lesson is to check before you plan rather than trusting a listing from last year.
If Cuckoo Was Your Regular
99 is the closest thing to a like-for-like replacement in the simplest sense — same floor, same nights, same operators, comparable spend. You will recognise the address and the shape of the evening.
What you will not get is the garden bar or the eclectic midweek programming. If those were specifically why you went, tell us and we will point you at something closer rather than insisting on the new tenant.
What About the Old Pages?
We have left our Cuckoo Club pages up rather than deleting them. People still search the name, the pages are still useful history, and they now carry a notice pointing here. If you find something elsewhere online saying Cuckoo is still trading, it is out of date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Cuckoo Club still open?
No. The Cuckoo Club has closed. 99 Regent Street has opened on the same floor of the same building.
Is 99 Regent Street just Cuckoo renamed?
No. It is a new club from the same founders, with two floors, its own programming and a stricter door.
Was Cuckoo not on Swallow Street?
Its entrance was. The building is Victory House, 99–101 Regent Street, so both addresses describe the same venue.
What nights is 99 Regent Street open?
Wednesday to Saturday, 11pm until 4am. One floor midweek, both floors at the weekend.
What is the age limit?
19+, a year older than Cuckoo and than almost every other London door.
