99 Regent Street Dress Code and the 19+ Rule

Last updated: 6 October 2026

Two things decide whether your group gets into 99 Regent Street, and only one of them is what you are wearing. Here is the dress code, and the age rule that quietly turns away more people than the clothes ever will.

Start With the Age Limit

Entry is 19+. Not eighteen. Almost every other club in London is 18+, which is exactly why this catches people — nobody thinks to check, because nobody has ever had to.

One year. If the youngest person in your group is eighteen, they are not getting in, and no amount of being dressed correctly changes that. Check before you make plans and make sure everyone brings physical photographic ID.

The Dress Code

Elegant. That is the word the venue uses and it is applied rather than decorative. This is an upscale room built deliberately against the direction London nightlife has drifted — the operators have been open about positioning it as a response to a city that moved toward members’ clubs and listening bars — and the door is part of that proposition.

In practice: dressed up, put together, looking like you made a decision. Not sportswear, not gym kit, not whatever you wore to the pub.

Footwear Decides It

As at every selective London door, shoes carry more weight than anything else. Running trainers and anything that reads as athletic are the clearest fails. Heels or a smart flat for women; proper shoes for men.

A clean, deliberate trainer with an otherwise sharp outfit is the one judgement call in the policy, and the rest of what you are wearing decides it. If you want certainty rather than a judgement, wear the shoes.

Where 99 Sits on the Spectrum

Worth placing rather than treating in isolation. At one end, KOKO in Camden publishes no dress code at all and trainers are entirely normal — the filter is whether you came for the music. At the other, the strictest Mayfair rooms treat the door as curation.

99 sits at the Mayfair end, and the 19+ rule pushes it further that way than the clothing policy alone would. A venue that adds a year to the legal minimum is telling you something about the room it wants.

Which Floor, and Whether It Matters

The code applies to the whole venue — there is no relaxed room. Upstairs is hip hop and open format, downstairs is house, and both expect the same standard. Worth knowing because at some two-floor venues the basement is the softer door; not here.

Seasonal Notes

Winter brings the coat problem. A 200-capacity floor warms up fast once it fills, so anything heavy goes to the cloakroom, and the cloakroom queue at 4am is a real cost in time. Groups that plan for it get out considerably faster.

Summer is the reverse. Dress for a long night standing rather than for the photographs you take at the start of it.

If You Have a Table

A table does not relax the dress code and it does not move the age limit. What it does remove is uncertainty at the door — your group is expected and your spot is held, so nobody is standing outside being assessed on a busy Saturday.

It also solves the coat problem and means you are not crossing a full floor with drinks.

Brief the Group

The groups that have trouble are rarely the ones who did not know the rules. They are the ones who knew and assumed one person would be waved through. Send the message before everyone leaves — the age one especially.
