77 London Review: Inside Marylebone’s House and Techno Room

Last updated: 6 October 2026

77 — written Seventy Seven, and usually just called 77 — opened on Welbeck Street in September 2025, beneath The BoTree hotel in Marylebone. It is a house and techno room first and a nightclub second, and that order matters for whether it suits your night.

One Room, Built Round the Booth

The layout tells you the priority. The floor runs toward a DJ booth set centrally at the back, seating is banked down both sides, and the lighting is rigged in long arcs that all converge on the booth. There is no second room, no quieter lounge, no VIP corridor running parallel to the dancefloor.

At 550 capacity that is a deliberate choice rather than a constraint. Venues at this size usually carve themselves up to create tiers of exclusivity. 77 does the opposite and points everything at the music.

The Programming Is the Point

House-led, with techno, Afro house and melodic house across the calendar. Since opening it has booked Kerri Chandler, David Morales, Dimitri from Paris and Sam Divine, with Skepta on the launch weekend.

Those are names that normally play rooms several times this size. Hearing them in a 550-capacity space is genuinely the selling point, and it is why the room draws people who would not otherwise go to a central London club on a Saturday.

The practical consequence: the lineup changes what the night is far more than it would at a venue where the DJ is wallpaper. Ask who is on before you commit to a date. We would rather tell you it is a quieter week than have you book expecting a headline.

Only Two Nights

Friday and Saturday. That is the entire week, and it shapes everything. There is no quiet midweek option to fall back on, demand concentrates into two dates, and both tables and guestlist go earlier than they would at a venue running four or five nights.

If your date is flexible, ask us which of the two is the easier one that week — it varies with who is booked.

Getting In

Entry is ticketed and open to men and women. No ladies-only policy, and no requirement for a group with men in it to take a table.

That is worth flagging because it is not how the Mayfair rooms a few streets away operate, where an all-male or mixed group is routinely pushed toward a table whether they wanted one or not. 77 is a music venue first and sells entry accordingly.

Tables

Minimum spends start from £700 — bar spend across your group, not a fee for the table. The reservation covers entry for everyone in the party, so a table is a better night rather than the price of admission: you get somewhere to base yourselves in a room that is otherwise mostly standing.

Where you land above the minimum moves with the night, the group size and who is playing. A headline booking sits above a regular Friday.

Where It Is

77 Welbeck Street, Marylebone. The BoTree's own entrance is round on Marylebone Lane; the club has its own door on Welbeck Street. Bond Street and Oxford Circus both work, and Marylebone at 4am is considerably calmer to leave than Soho.

Dress Code and Age

Smart, and applied — but this is a music-led door rather than a Mayfair fashion one, so it is about looking put together rather than about labels. Entry is 18+ with ID.

Who It Suits

People who actually came for the DJ, groups who would rather hear a serious lineup in a small room than be seen in a big one, and anyone who finds Mayfair's table-first clubs tiring.

Who it suits less: groups wanting hip hop and RnB all night, and anyone needing a midweek date — two nights a week is the real constraint here. Those are facts about the venue rather than failings.
